From October 28 to 31, 2025, the 37th edition of the International Symposium on Computer Architecture and High Performance Computing (SBAC-PAD) took place in Bonito, Mato Grosso do Sul (Brazil) — one of the leading international events in the fields of computer architecture, parallel computing, and high-performance computing.
Promoted by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC), SBAC-PAD annually brings together researchers and professionals from several countries to discuss scientific and technological advances in the area. The 2025 edition was hosted at Zagaia Eco Resort, located in one of Brazil’s most renowned tourist destinations.
The Parallel Processing Architecture and Modeling Group (GMAP), affiliated with the School of Technology at PUCRS and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Dalvan Griebler and Luiz Gustavo Leão Fernandes, took part in the event with two accepted papers for presentation.
Among them is the paper “Interface for Programming Linear Fault-Tolerant Pipelines for Standard C++ MPI” authored by Eduardo M. Martins, Renato B. Hoffmann, Lucas M. Alf, and Dalvan Griebler, which was presented at SSCAD, a co-event of SBAC-PAD. The second paper, “Performance, Portability, and Productivity of HIP on GPUs with NAS Parallel Benchmarks”, was authored by Gabriell Araujo, Dalvan Griebler, and Luiz Gustavo Fernandes, both works developed by GMAP members.
This participation reinforces the group’s role in research related to high-performance computing, fault tolerance, and parallelism in modern architectures, consolidating PUCRS among the Brazilian institutions with a consistent presence at major international conferences in the field.
